The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (IKV) invites applications for a highly motivated and academically ambitious Assistant Professor in Veterinary Neurology to commence 15 October 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is full time and open for up to 4 years.

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences covers strong and internationally recognized research areas in clinical veterinary sciences. Based on these, we aim to establish a new standard for cross-disciplinary research, education, and innovation in animal health and disease, and be among Denmark's best public workplaces. Our Research
Veterinary Neurology is part of the Section for Diagnostic Imaging, Companion Animal Surgery, and Clinical Specialties, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. It comprises a committed team of researchers and clinicians, including one National specialist, one affiliated professor DipECVN, active PhD fellows, and senior neurology clinicians. The group supports residency training under the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN).
The Veterinary Clinical Neurology group is a group of highly dedicated and enthusiastic veterinary neurology researchers and clinicians with a strong network of leading national and international veterinary and human neurologists and neuroscientists. Our research focuses on clinical and comparative aspects of veterinary neurology, including disease phenotyping, neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative mechanisms, and biomarker discovery for CNS autoimmune disorders, epilepsy, canine cognitive dysfunction, and neuropathic pain.
Clinical activities are anchored at the University Hospital for Companion Animals, a high-volume referral center serving primary, secondary and tertiary neurology cases. We also provide advice services, continuous professional education seminars for fellow veterinarians in primary practice, and an international postgraduate master’s program within Companion Animal Clinical Sciences (www.cacs.ku.dk).
Your Job
You will support research, teaching, and clinical service development in veterinary neurology.
Your tasks will include:
- Conducting research, including publishing and disseminating findings.
- Research-based teaching of veterinary students and postgraduate master’s students in veterinary neurology as well as supervising bachelor’s and veterinary thesis projects.
- Training residents in veterinary neurology.
- Contributing to the clinical neurology service at the University Hospitals for Companion Animals.
- Sharing knowledge with society and veterinary practitioners.
- Participating in pedagogical training for assistant professors.
- Administrative duties related to teaching, research, and clinical service.

Profile
We seek a candidate with a strong academic track record and commitment to excellence in veterinary neurology research and education. The ideal applicant possesses;
Essential Skills and Experience
- PhD degree in a field relevant to veterinary neurology or equivalent qualifications DipECVN or DACVIM [Neurology].
- Demonstrated research experience within veterinary neurology.
- Documented teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
- DVM degree and authorization to practice veterinary medicine in Denmark, or hold a veterinary degree, which allows for a Danish Veterinary License within six months after accepting the job offer.
- Advanced clinical competencies in veterinary neurology.
- Proficient communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in teams.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Desirable Skills and Experience
- If not proficient in Danish, willingness to learn during employment.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
