The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences has approx. 550 employees within education and research in the fields of biotechnology, plant science and environmental sciences, from the molecular scale to entire ecosystems. he positions are placed in the department’s administration. The administration at the University of Copenhagen is currently subject to a major reorganization. The announced positions will not be affected by cut-downs. Tasks
As project manager you will support scientific coordinators with the administration of one or several research project(s). You will be responsible for the daily contact with national and international project partners, stakeholders and grant-givers, which can be both public and private entities, such as the European Commission, Innovation Fund Denmark and the Novo Nordisk Foundation. You will monitor the scientific progress of the project and keep track of the project related finances. Furthermore, you will assist with technical and financial reporting. You will be responsible for organising meetings / conferences / seminars, by preparing and coordinating all aspects of these events, incl. agendas, minutes and facilitating exercises. Additionally, you may be responsible for outreach activities such as websites, social media and public events.
You are expected to take part in department-related tasks when needed, e.g. by providing management or committee assistance. Furthermore, you might support the department by developing new strategies, new goal plans, and arrangement of development seminars. We value collaboration and take joint responsibility for the task portfolio in the administration. Depending on your individual competences, other tasks may be delegated to you that go beyond those specifically related to this position.
The jobs require a certain level of flexibility as assignments are varied and at times in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work both in teams and independently is essential. You should be able to take initiative and ownership of your tasks. Most assignments are in English, but certain tasks require fluency in Danish.
Qualifications
As a minimum, you must hold a master’s degree and have proven experience/qualifications in:
- Good intercultural and interdisciplinary understanding and ability to collaborate with different personality types in an academic environment
- Process design and facilitation
- Taking ownership of your tasks and solving them to a high standard
- Academic staff support and collaboration
- Keeping overview of finances
- Good communicative skills in Danish (or other Scandinavian language) and English
It will be an advantage, if you:
- Have experience with organizing meetings and conferences
- Are structured
- Have experience with systematic management of research projects
- Have an organizational understanding of the university and knowledge of the department's subject areas
- Have experience with strategic support

Terms of appointment and payment will be according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Employment will be as academic employee or special consultant. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time is 37 hours per week on average.
