Academic employee (bachelor) at Department of Biomedical Sciences

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent academic employee(bachelor level) to support our efforts in solving youth obesity and healthy weight maintenance to commence 1 December 2024 or soon after. Working hours are 8 per week.

Our research

The Clinical Translational Metabolism Group, led by Professor Signe Torekov, is offering an opportunity to join our team. Our mission is to bridge the gap between biomedical research and clinical practice by designing, planning and executing clinical experimental interventions. Through this work, we aim to elucidate and integrate the complex psychological and biological mechanisms behind obesity to ultimately improve prevention and treatment options for individuals living with obesity.

You will be part of a team conducting large clinical trials within investigations of prevention and treatment of obesity published in highly cited medical journals (e.g. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2028198). Furthermore, you will be part of an international consortium within immuno-metabolism established between University of Copenhagen, Oxford University, UK and Karolinska Institute, Sweden.

Your job

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team where your tasks will be in connection with our current project entitled Young Adults With Early-onset Obesity Treated With Semaglutide (RESETTLE):

You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research project in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic academic employee (bachelor) with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • You have documented experience in executing a clinical trial
  • You have experience and are comfortable with patient contact
  • You have an active interest in obesity, metabolism, clinical studies and related fields
  • You are a team player with both an independent and collaborative mindset
  • You are fluent in both Danish and English, written and spoken
  • You have obtained a bachelor’s degree in human biology, human physiology, medicine, molecular biomedicine, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent

Desirable experience and skills

  • Experience and knowledge of statistical analysis with R and/or SAS
  • Experience and knowledge of GCP
  • Experience with data management and regulations

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Maersk Tower, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and clinical facilities.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 8 hours per week.

The starting date is 1 December 2024 or after agreement.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (bachelor seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
