We are looking for two Academic Research Staff members to support the work of the Deshmukh Group at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), to start November 1, 2023, or after the agreement.
Our research
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to pioneer groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. We wish to lead collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, transforming the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health, and accelerating its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010, and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices, and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www.maersktower.ku.dk.

Our group and research
The aim of the Deshmukh Group is to investigate how diet and exercise alters intra- and intercellular communication and hence the metabolism. We employ Mass-Spectrometry-based proteomics to study cellular communication and uncover new insights into metabolic diseases, and strategies for their prevention and treatment.

Your job tasks will include
- Preparing and uploading data to public databases (e.g., PRIDE)
- Re-organizing and reprocessing data from old projects
- Assisting with the management of records of chemicals and stocks, ordering new chemicals
- Assisting researchers with their experimental designs
Essential criteria for the position
- Good organizational skills and capacity for time management
- Capacity to work in teams of multidisciplinary professionals
- Knowledge of R/Python scripting
- Demonstrated capacity for collaborative programming using Git
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
Place of employment
The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as Academic Officer is a 2-year position. The working hours for position 1 are 15 hours pr. week and for position 2, 10 hours pr. week. The expected starting date is November 1, 2023, or after the agreement.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
