Staff scientist (AC-TAP) in Khodosevich lab at BRIC

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent staff scientist to support our efforts in single cell biology and mouse models to commence 1 September 2022.

Our research
Our group studies mechanisms that are responsible for neuronal specification, positioning and circuit formation during brain development, and how these mechanisms are impaired in neurodevelopmental disorders. We analyse mouse models and human tissue to identify those neurons that are affected in a particular disorder, and how dysfunction of affected neurons contributes to brain circuit malformation and underlie cognitive impairment in human patients. Our work is highly interdisciplinary, from high-throughput analyses of single neurons in human and mouse tissues to functional studies of disease relevant genes in mouse models in vivo or in human cell cultures in vitro.

Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on brain disorders.

Your major tasks will be handling mouse models and performing single cell analysis.

You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • You have a PhD in Life sciences or related
  • Experience working as staff scientist in academic laboratory
  • You have documented experience in single cell analysis and mouse disease modelling (both are required)
  • You have an active interest in brain development and associated disorders
  • You have proven an ability to envision, plan and execute a research project
  • Good English skills, written and spoken.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at BRIC, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and animal facilities.
