Postdoc of Forest Resource Modeling and Projection
Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Managment
Faculty of Science
University of Copenhagen
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to a groundbreaking project focused on sustainable forestry, wood supply chains, and carbon management. This position will involve developing advanced models to assess and project future forest resources and their sustainable use in the built environment. The researcher will join a multidisciplinary team to investigate current and future forest growth and production to develop scenario-based projections for wood supply in construction and other applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment of Current Forest Production. Conduct a comprehensive mapping of forest increment and production, and forest product utilization (e.g., construction materials, pulp and paper, energy).
Scenario Development for Future Wood Supply. Develop a range of future scenarios for wood supply to the built environment, considering factors like forest area changes, climate change, forest type diversity, efficiency improvements, and shifts in wood utilization.
Timber Supply Chain Modeling. Create a spatially explicit model for regionalized timber supply across the EU, incorporating both hardwood and softwood species to meet construction demand.
Work closely with international project partners to ensure comprehensive analysis and integration of findings on biogenic resource availability.
The postdoc’s duties will include research within Forest Resource Modeling and Projection as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
