Postdoc position in Molecular Biology at BRIC
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join the Cvejic Lab with the commence date of January 15th 2025 or soon thereafter.
Information on the department can be found at: BRIC – University of Copenhagen (ku.dk)
Our research
We are a team of highly skilled researchers collaborating with international partners from industry and other universities to perform exciting interdisciplinary science using cutting-edge experimental and computational technologies.
The research in our group can be broadly divided into two main areas:
Our basic research projects using human haematopoietic cells aim to dissect dynamics and cellular programmes active during human blood lineage development and to decipher how haematopoietic differentiation pathways are influenced by different microenvironments.
In our translational research projects, we use various state-of-the-art single cell sequencing techniques to analyse cancer patient samples, investigating the influence of the tumour microenvironment in the context of pathological differentiation of immune cells.
Your job
You will have a strong scientific background in cell biology and epigenetics, and you will be able to demonstrate critical thinking within and beyond these areas. You will be hard working, passionate about science, and keen to learn and improve skills within a supportive research environment.
You will be involved in a project that aims to comprehensively dissect the molecular underpinnings of the haematopoietic stem cell state. To achieve this, the project will implement a CRISPR-Cas9 screen to interrogate a large number of targets and reveal the key factors that regulate important stem cell functions. The initial screen will be followed by extensive functional characterisation of candidates of interest, with the goal of gaining novel mechanistic insight into blood stem cell regulation.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be tasked with proactively seeking and maintaining appropriate collaborations. You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad-hoc basis when needed, working closely with biologists, clinicians and bioinformaticians within and outside the group to accomplish scientific objectives; disseminate your expertise to new lab members, participate in grant writing and be actively involved in scientific discussions within the lab.
