The section for Software, Data, People and Society (SDPS) at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen, invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Researcher on designing human-centred AI. The Postdoc will be part of a project, which has a focus on applied research. The overall goal of the project is to develop and test new approaches to designing human-centred AI together with small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s) in the area of manufacturing and service. The purpose is to engage SMEs and support them in initiating or furthering use of AI whereby optimizing processes and improving business. Through the engagement, the candidate will draw on, apply and extend state-of-the art research on design approaches to human-centred AI.
Our Research
The SDPS Section’s research spans software and data management technologies to computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), information systems, and participatory methods for development of software systems. Our research aims to create value for society – often in an interdisciplinary setting and in collaboration with public and private stakeholders. It is housed within the main Science Campus, which is located in central Copenhagen. Further information on the Department is available at https://di.ku.dk/english/.
Job Description
The position is 24 months, starting March 1st 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. The key tasks of the postdoctoral researcher are:
- Engage and collaborate with SME’s within the manufacturing and service industry
- Collaborate with researchers within the research group and with external project partners on developing new knowledge related to design of human-centred AI
- Write scientific articles
- Disseminate research nationally and internationally.

Formal requirements
Applicants should have or be about to receive a PhD degree in a subject relevant for the research area, and have good written and oral English skills. The assessment of your qualifications will also be made based on previous scientific publications (if any) and relevant work experience.

The postdoc’s duties will include research within human-computer interaction. The post may also include performance of other duties.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
