Postdoc in Mechanisms of Signalling and Transcription by Structural Disorder in the REPIN center for IDPs
We are looking for a number of highly motivated and dynamic researchers to join the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge Center REPIN (REthinking Protein INteractions) to work on intrinsically disordered proteins as Postdocs for 2 years with potential for extension, starting May 1st 2023 or soon thereafter.
The primary research focus in REPIN is to understand how intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) interact, and the ways in which these functional mechanisms occur. By joining the REPIN center you will either be a part of the groups of both Karen Skriver and Birthe B. Kragelund, or Birthe B. Kragelund alone, depending on the candidates interests and skills. The REPIN center hosts five research groups and constitutes a dynamic, international, and multi‑disciplinary research environment, that comprises state-of-the-art facilities to study IDPs, including a suite of biophysical techniques and high-field biomolecular NMR spectroscopy.
We have a number of promising research projects presently on offer to postdoctoral researchers. These include characterizing novel binding mechanisms of transcription factors, investigating the role of acidic IDPs in the extracellular matrix, or deconstructing the role of disorder for cytokine receptor signaling. The candidate(s) will have an influence on the exact directions of the projects, which will approached by combining methods in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology.
The postdocs’ primary responsibilities will consist of:
- research, including publication/academic dissemination duties
- supervision of students and limited teaching
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic scientists with the following competencies and experience.
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, structural biology or similar
- You are highly experienced in protein purification
- You are highly experienced in one or more of the following techniques: ITC, biomolecular NMR, kinetics, single-molecule techniques, or other quantitative biophysical techniques.
- Prior publication in internationally recognized journals to which you have contributed significantly
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
- Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
- Prior IDP knowledge is an advantage
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the REPIN center, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of employment
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,000 DKK/approx. 4,700 EUR (October 2021 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
