Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a two-year position, who is expected to commence on the September 1st, 2025, or after agreement. Highly motivated and committed candidates with an interest in eukaryotic DNA replication and DNA damage repair, are encouraged to apply.

Information on the department can be found at: https://icmm.ku.dk/english/

Our research
The Liu group https://icmm.ku.dk/english/research-groups/liu-group/ aims to understand the molecular mechanisms that maintain eukaryotic genome stability during DNA replication using a combination of genetic and cell biological techniques. In our group, we strive for success based on teamwork using interdisciplinary methodology. We have established excellent international collaborations and have excellent support from the department and the current DNRF-Center for chromosome Stability. Our group is composed by members of different nationalities and have good gender balance.

Project description
The successful applicant will work on the project with the focus on ‘the mechanism underlying folate deficiency induced genome instability’. Folate deficiency is known to be associated with a diverse range of human disorders including foetal neural tube defects, age-associated dementia, infertility, and some type of cancers. We are currently investigating the regions that are vulnerable to folate deficiency in the human genome, and the strategies cells employ to maintain the stability of those regions.

Your job
The successful applicant will perform research in Liu group and participate in undergraduate teaching in the department.
