Two Assistant Professors of Veterinary Anatomy and Pathology

We are looking for two highly motivated and dynamic assistant professors to the research group of Veterinary Anatomy and Pathology, Section of Pathobiology, Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to commence 1 January 2025 or after agreement.

Job description
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic scientists with relevant teaching competencies within veterinary anatomy and/or veterinary pathology.

The research activities in the research group focus on the development of models for human and veterinary diseases in mammals together with the development of new diagnostic methods. This includes animal infectious diseases and welfare related lesions as well as laboratory related aspects. The candidates are expected to attract external national or international research funding and establish their own independent research portfolio.

The positions are linked to the veterinary education and includes primarily teaching in courses related to veterinary anatomy and partly pathology including supervision of students. The candidates need to be able to contribute and further develop teaching within especially veterinary anatomy and pathology.

The assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Sharing knowledge with society
  • Participation in formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

The successful applicants for the position as assistant professors should be able to document:

  • A PhD degree or similar qualifications within veterinary science
  • Research experience within the field of the position: The assistant professor must have an academic standing showing internationally competitive research, and/or have internationally recognized high potential to make a future impact. Research can be within relevant fields of veterinary sciences.
  • Authorization to work as a veterinary surgeon in the European Union.

The assistant professors are also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Section of Pathobiology, Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The positions is a fixed-term position limited to a period of four years. The start date is 1 January 2025 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 36,400 DKK/approx. 4,880 EUR (October 2023 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
