Assistant professor Position in Antibiotic Tolerance Research

We are offering an assistant professor position in antibiotic tolerance research to commence on 1st August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Immunology and Microbiology at University of Copenhagen is a unique interdisciplinary research flagship exploring the biology of pathogenic microbes and our immune system, with the aim of improving population health.

Project description

Biofilm forming bacteria can tolerate antibiotic treatment, and accordingly infections caused by biofilms are an important medical problem. The purpose of the research project is to obtain knowledge of the c-di-GMP signaling network that governs antibiotic tolerance of bacterial biofilms, using the opportunistic pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii as a model organism. This knowledge may ultimately guide the development of novel and effective therapies against biofilm-based infections.

Principal investigator is Professor Tim Tolker-Nielsen,  Costerton Biofilm Center, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, E-mail: ttn@sund.ku.dk

Project Start:     1st August 2026
