The Department of Food and Resource Economics, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen invites applications for a position as associate professor within the field of Agricultural Economics and climate change. The position will have its main emphasis on economic aspects related to the activities within the agricultural sector, how Danish and European agriculture can adapt to changed framework conditions in the form of climate change, climate change policies, changes in consumer preferences, and involving socio economic evaluation of strategies for mitigating GHG emissions from agriculture. The interaction between agriculture and biodiversity and related policies may be contained in the position. We are looking for applicants with documented research experience, including empirical modelling and/or econometric research within one or more of the following research areas:

  • economics of land use and climate change, e.g. applying microeconomic data and models or partial equilibrium sector models;
  • evaluation of agricultural, environmental and climate policies;
  • incentives for adapting climate smart agricultural activities;
  • agricultural value chains and upstream and downstream effects of agricultural activities in a changing climate.

The associate professor’s duties will primarily include theoretical and empirical research within the above fields, including contributions to collaborative and interdisciplinary work, obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within resource economics. The position may also include other duties, like public sector advisory work.

Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.

Six overall criteria apply for associate professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for an overall assessment of the candidates.
