Associate Professor of DNA Topology
The University seeks to appoint an associate professor to the Center for Chromosome Stability (www.ccs.ku.dk) in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine to commence as soon as possible. The post is available for a fixed term and will terminate no later than 28 February, 2025.
The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine focuses on basic cellular and molecular biological processes, their regulation and their significance for cell function, interaction and organisation in tissues. The Department offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate teaching programs spanning cell biology, genetics and basic human biology, including chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, as well as anatomy. The post-holder will be based in the CCS and will focus on conducting original research to improve our understanding of how DNA supercoiling is regulated in human cells and how defects in the maintenance of supercoiling homeostasis affects genome stability.
The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
The successful applicant should be able to document:
- Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
- Pedagogical competencies
- Research-based teaching
The research associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
