Assistant Professor of Science or Mathematics Education

The Department of Science Education, Section for Science and Mathematics Education Research and Teaching (SMART) seeks an excellent scholar for an assistant professorship in science or mathematics education. It is a strategic aim at UCPH to contribute to a cohesive educational system in Denmark by bridge building to upper-secondary schools and to teacher training colleges in Denmark, and by developing digital opportunities for teaching and learning within the educational sector. We are especially interested in candidates who can develop new initiatives to support this strategic aim.
 
The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within science education. To a limited extent, this may also include performance of other duties.

The position is open from 1 January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a temporary position lasting 4 years.

Terms of employment 
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
 
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
 
The starting salary is currently up to DKK 424,526.37 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 72,594.01). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

  • A short (approx. 3 pages) document that outlines the applicant’s (a) reflections on teaching at teacher training programs at secondary level (b) descriptions of the range of science programs in which the candidate will be qualified to teach seminars on science or mathematics education as well as interdisciplinary topics (c) reflections on co-teaching courses as part of larger teacher teams.

    • Experience with supervision of BSc and MSc students 
    • Teaching experience 
    • Formal pedagogical training 
  • Complete publication list 
  • Separate reprints of 5 particularly relevant papers
