Part-time lecturer in global health, the Global Health Section
Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences University of Copenhagen seeks to employ a part-time Lecturer as of 1 September 2025 for teaching and student supervision.
The Part-time Lecturer will plan and carry out teaching, exams and other student evaluations.
Job description
The Global Health Section at the Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), invites applications for a three-year, part-time lecturer, starting 1st September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Global Health Section conducts multidisciplinary teaching and research activities in global health, water and sanitation, and educational innovation.
Key responsibilities
The applicant will:
- Plan and deliver Master’s level teaching in Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), including case-based and field-oriented components.
- Design engaging online or blended learning activities using UCPH’s digital platforms (e.g. Absalon/Canvas, Panopto).
- Develop, assess and provide feedback on written assignments, oral exams and project reports.
- Serve as an internal examiner for relevant courses.
- Supervise and co-supervise MSc theses and smaller research projects in WASH or digital pedagogy.
- Contribute to course development through evidence-informed digital teaching strategies.
- Coordinate guest lectures and cross-faculty collaboration.
The exact distribution of responsibilities is determined each semester in collaboration with the Head of Studies, and in accordance with UCPH’s job structure for academic staff.
Required qualifications
Applicants for the part-time Lecturer position must have obtained an educational level corresponding to a master’s degree, as well as:
- employment in an academic principal position with another university, or
- relevant practical experience at a high level which has not been gained through academic employment with a university.
- A Master’s degree or PhD in public/global health, environmental engineering, education technology, or a related field.
- Documented experience teaching WASH-related topics (e.g. water quality, sanitation systems, hygiene behaviour, outbreak prevention) at the university level.
- Demonstrated expertise in digital teaching and learning methods, including the design and facilitation of online, blended, or flipped-classroom formats.
- Proven ability to supervise graduate-level research in English; proficiency in Danish is an asset but not required.
- Strong communication, intercultural and teamwork skills.
Documented teaching activities and positive evaluations from students will be considered an asset.
Desirable qualifications
- Field experience in low- and middle-income settings or in humanitarian WASH interventions.
- Certification or formal education in pedagogy or educational technology.
- Experience using learning analytics for course development and evaluation.
Terms of employment
The position will be filled in accordance with the Circular on the agreement on Part-time Lecturers at universities et al. under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science (Ministry of Education) of 10 January 2019, agreed between the Ministry of Taxation and the Academics (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Furthermore, the employment is covered by the rules concerning Part-time Lecturers as described in the Job structure for academic staff at universities of 2020.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years.
The total number of hours may not exceed 500 hours per annum. Should the planning or execution of the lectures require it, the working hours may amount to a maximum of 780 hours per annum.
The current hourly rate is 304.59 DKK (April 2025-level).
