The Niels Bohr Institute is looking for teaching assistants (TAs) for courses offered in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. educations on Physics and Nanoscience in the period September 1st 2023 to January 31st 2023, blocks 1 and 2.

The employment is limited for up to 5 year, but terminates without warning when your enrolment as a student ends. Your hours will be individually arranged for each block. You are not guaranteed hours in every block.

We expect to hire TAs for the following courses. The TA positions are also partially filled with PhD students and other NBI staff, so there may be courses on the list where student TAs are not hired. You are welcome to indicate several courses on your application. The courses listed here are courses where we may hire TAs without Danish proficiency. If you are fluent in Danish, please look at the list above.

Block 1:  
Elektromagnetisme (EM1), lab classes (schedule B)
75 hours

Condensed Matter Physics 1 (CMP1) (schedule A)
70 hours

Scientific Computing (schedule C)
80 hours

Complex Physics (schedule A)
70 hours

Block 2:  
Applied Statistics – from Data to Results (schedule B)
100 hours

The tasks of the TAs may vary from course to course, but usually include:

  • Preparation and conduction of weekly exercises
  • Weekly TA meetings
  • Marking assignments or reports

The positions may be filled by students from Physics and Nanoscience who have passed 2 years of one of these bachelor educations. Other students may be hired if they are assessed to be qualified for the positions. In these cases, please enclose documentation of other relevant qualifications such as mentor work or other teaching, high school grades or recommendations.

It is a prerequisite that you are enrolled in a higher education.

Terms of employment  
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Studenterundervisernes Landsforbund.  

The specific number of hours is agreed upon for each block/semester. Salary is 233,32 kr / hour.

  • Names of 1-2 NBI VIPs who know you (alternatively, recommendations)
  • Grade transcripts and proof of enrolment
  • Course certificates for any didactic courses
  • CV, including relevant teaching and dissemination experience

After the application deadline, a selection of applicants will be shortlisted for academic assessment. Please note that you will only be assessed qualified or not for the courses you have applied for.

Note that some TA positions are filled before others, so the process from the first TA receives an offer until all offers have been given may take a while.
