PhD fellow in Theoretical Astroparticle Physics

Department of Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology, Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship in theoretical astroparticle physics commencing in fall 2018 or as soon as possible.

Description of the scientific environment:
The Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA) is an independent centre of excellence hosted by the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) and functions as the primary centre of fundamental research in the physical sciences and mathematics. The astroparticle physics group at NBI (https://astropart.nbi.ku.dk/) has broad interests at the interface between astrophysics, cosmology, and fundamental physics.

Project description:
We are looking for exceptional candidates with good theoretical foundation who will conduct research in multi-messenger astrophysics. We are particularly interested in candidates with prior experience in the modelling of high-energy gamma-ray, neutrino, and cosmic-ray emission from non-thermal sources, the propagation of these cosmic messengers before observation, and the analysis of multi-messenger data. The successful candidate is also expected to closely collaborate with the NBI IceCube group (http://icecube.nbi.ku.dk).
