Postdoc in Data Management for Distributed Data-Intensive Applications
Department of Computer Science
Faculty of Science
University of Copenhagen
Distributed application architectures are the backbone of large-scale deployments of data-intensive systems today. However, developers face challenges related to restrictive programming models and the architectural complexity stemming from weaving several heterogeneous systems to fulfill data management requirements such as transactional consistency, data replication, query and event processing, and fault tolerance. This postdoc position is generally open to any topic within data management solutions for distributed data-intensive applications, but we are particularly interested in synergies with our ongoing projects on deterministic concurrency control, decentralized event log management systems, and benchmarking and performance analysis of state-of-the-art platforms for distributed and event-based applications. The ideal candidate is familiar with programming models for scalable and partitioned applications, like actors, as well as has experience with developing internal DBMS components, such as transaction management, logging, and query processing.
The postdoc’s duties will include research within data management for distributed data-intensive applications as well as teaching in the general area of software engineering and architecture. The post may also include performance of other duties, such as undergraduate student co-supervision.
