The University seeks to appoint a clinical research associate professor of Anaesthesiology to the Department of Clinical Medicine to commence from as soon as possible.
The clinical research associate professorship is combined with a clinical position at Zealand University Hospital, Department of Anaesthesiology.
It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the clinical research associate professorship and the clinical position. In order to be considered the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the clinical research associate professorship) and to the hospital (the clinical position) cf. the simultaneously advertised clinical position. The clinical research associate professors’ duties will primarily consist of:
- Research, in evidence based treatment of the critically ill, including organ failure, sedation and pain, aftercare, and prevention of late complications. Including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching of medical students, both bachelor- and master- students, staff and young doctors. Including associated examination
- Research leadership at the intensive care unit. In collaboration with the local professor and the Head of the ICU provide and develop a visionary research strategy for the ICU. Supervise bachelor- and master-thesis, and PhD students. Initiate and run research studies, including funding, and publication of results. Facilitate and promote the clinical and academic development at the department
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments
The division between the different tasks may vary over the 5-year period of employment. Teaching obligations are equivalent to a previous external clinical associate professorship rate B.
Any current employment as clinical associate professor (rate A, B or rate C) will expire if the applicant is employed as a clinical research associate professor.
The qualification requirement for the clinical research associate professor is a master’s degree in medicine, specialist status as well as further teaching and research qualifications, for example PhD or doctorate and subsequently documented scientific production on an international level. In addition, there will be an emphasis on experience with scientific guidance, research administration and international research collaboration.
The clinical research associate professors are also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Terms of employment

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment of an associate professor are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
