The University seeks to appoint a associate professor to the Department of Public Health to commence as soon as possible. The professorship is in the Section of Environmental Health, which carries out basic research on environment and health throughout the life course, with methods ranging from experimental models to register-based epidemiology. The priority of the section is to contribute to future public health and prevention with original research and training of talented researchers.

Job description
The focus on the position is to apply epidemiological research to examine health effects of environmental exposures for improving public health. This should include utilization of the rich data infrastructures in Denmark regarding populations, health and geospatial resources. The research should also involve international collaborations on environmental epidemiology, as well as translational aspects to use the research to inform policy makers and society within environmental issues.
The Associate Professor will engage in the young, interdisciplinary and dynamic research environment at the Section of Environmental Health and the surrounding environments at the Department of Public Health and at the Faculty.

The associate professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments

Furthermore, each applicant must be able to document:

  • Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways

  • Research-based teaching
  • A strong international perspective within the accomplice scientific results

The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Terms of employment
The position is permanent and the average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
