Academic staff position in hematology precision medicine informatics in the Wennerberg group at BRIC

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent academic staff to support our efforts in translational hematology and the discoveries of new precision therapies targeting cancer stem cells of myeloid malignancies, to commence March 1 2019. 
Our research 
The Wennerberg group at BRIC focuses on identifying new effective precision cancer therapies. This is done with a systems-driven approach where we combine chemical biology, phenotypic profiling, molecular profiling and informatics to gain understanding of individual cancers, their drug resistance mechanisms and how they may be targeted. Our ultimate goal is that our results will lay the foundation for new types of cures for individual and subsequently larger groups of cancer patients. 
Your job 
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on discovering new strategies for personalized treatments of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).  
Your tasks will be to:  
  • Support the development of analysis methods for high throughput flow cytometry drug screens with multidimensional readouts.  
  • Provide informatics support in the analysis of high throughput flow cytometry screens aimed at identifying drugs that have the potential to target or differentiate the cancer stem cells in AML and MDS patient samples. 
  • Contribute to and support the development of approaches to establish understanding of differentiation hierarchies and potential stem cell phenotypes of AML and MDS from flow cytometry and single cell sequencing data. 

In addition, you may be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.  

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following competencies and experience: 
Essential experience and skills 
You have an MS or PhD in Life sciences or related,  
You have documented experience in informatic analyses of cell differentiation using multi-omics data  
You have an active interest in translational research 
You have proven an ability to envision, plan and execute a research project 
A team player 
Excellent English skills, written and spoken 
Place of employment 
The place of employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and a number of core facilities shared between the 25 research groups at BRIC and the neighboring Finsen Laboratory. You will also be part of the greater Program in Translational Hematology that joins several research groups at BRIC and Rigshospitalet (, giving the you a dynamic and interactive work environment that is an outstanding setting for making translational discoveries.  
Terms of salary and employment 
The employment as academic staff is a full time and fixed-term position through December 2020. Starting date is March 1 2019, or after agreement. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
