Postdoctoral Fellowship in oxidative RNA signalling and damage

A 12 months postdoc position (with the possibility of extension) is available at the Section for Computational and RNA Biology, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen. The position will be available as of 1 May 2019. The Section for Computational and RNA Biology Currently consists of 12 international research groups, in total around 65 employees and is housed in Copenhagen Biocenter in central Copenhagen, Denmark (https://www.biocenter.ku.dk/). 
 
The position is in the group of Associate Professor Jeppe Vinther and is focused on the analysis of the consequences of oxidative signaling and damage on the transcriptome. The postdoc will be responsible for performing sequencing based experiments to map and analyse oxidation of specific RNA positions using cell culture model systems and sequencing based mutational profiling.  
 
The Vinther Lab has extensive experimental and computational knowhow related to implementation of sequencing based methods and the analysis of the data. We maintain an informal, collaborative and productive working environment at the interface of experimental RNA biology and Bioinformatics. Qualifications: 
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a PhD degree. Candidates with some experience with massive parallel sequencing based experiments, Iron Biology, Reactive Oxygen Species or RNA Biology/Biochemistry will be preferred.

  • Have a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, medicine or a similar field
  • Have published in international peer-reviewed journals 
The working language is English, thus excellent English speaking, reading and writing skills are required.

Salary and terms of employment 
The successful applicant will be hired as a postdoctoral fellow for 12 months. The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.  
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.  
The starting salary is currently up to DKK 426,625 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 72,952). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

Procedures and shortlisting 
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Interview Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant himself/herself. 
The final selection of successful candidates will be made by the Head of Department, based on the recommendations of the assessment committee.
