882526 Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy

The University seeks to appoint a tenure track assistant professor to the Department of Pharmacy to commence 1 August 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Pharmacy is looking for an assistant professor to support its activities in clinical pharmacy research in the Section for Social and Clinical pharmacy (SCP). The candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree (or otherwise have acquired skills equivalent to a Ph.D. degree) at the time of appointment and have a documented experience in clinical pharmacy research.
Clinical pharmacy is defined by the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP) as “a health specialty, which describes the activities and services of the clinical pharmacist to develop and promote the rational and appropriate use of medicinal products and devices. Clinical Pharmacy includes all the services performed by pharmacists practicing in hospitals, community pharmacies, nursing homes, home-based care services, clinics and any other setting where medicines are prescribed and used.” In addition, SCP has a long standing expertise in social pharmacy research. Social pharmacy deals with the role and use of medicines at the individual, group and societal levels and the related professional roles.
The candidate should be interested in and show ability to establish research collaboration with practicing pharmacists and other health care professionals in the primary and secondary health care sector in Denmark. In addition, the candidate should be able and willing to collaborate and engage in cross-disciplinary activities within the section as well as with other scientists at the department and university.
The tenure track assistant professor’s duties will include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examinations within bachelor and master level curricula at PharmaSchool at the University of Copenhagen. To a limited extent the position may also include other duties such as administrative tasks.
Assessment of applicants will in part consider their level of documented research and also their ability to work with clinicians in the field of improving medicines use. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory but documented teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be considered. Out-reach qualifications of applicants including the ability to attract external funding will also be considered.
During the employment as tenure track assistant professor, the assistant professor is to participate in a formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in order to qualify for a permanent position.
The tenure track assistant professor’s duties will primarily consist of:
• research, including publication/academic dissemination duties
• research-based teaching
• sharing knowledge with society
• participation in formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors
The tenure track assistant professor’s performance will be evaluated through annual evaluations. Furthermore, the tenure track assistant professor will be evaluated in a mid-track appraisal.

• a PhD degree or similar qualifications in relation to the above subject area
• research experience within the field of the position
The tenure track assistant professor must have an academic standing showing internationally competitive research, and/or have internationally recognized high potential to make a future impact.
The assistant professor is also required to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills.
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (2013).
