Student Assistant, political science research project

Job brief: We are currently looking for a part-time student assistant to help us in a research project on Russia at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. The research team consists of professor MSO Jacob Gerner Hariri and PhD fellows Benjamin Egerod and Anders Woller. The project hopes to shed light on the strategies used by political regimes when faced with local regime discontent.
 
In order to be considered for the position, you must be enrolled and active as a student at university level.  

The responsibilities of the student assistant will primarily be in the stage of data collection, including:  
  • Preparation of lists of politically active organizations in Russia  
  • Generating a list of search terms and identification of political sense through social media behavior  
  • Conduct web searches for relevant pages at fixed intervals      
We are looking for a student assistant, preferably with a background in political science, economics, data science, or a similar field. You have a positive attitude working with numbers as well as web searches and simple programming. You are interested in Russia and, possibly Russian language.

Terms and conditions  
Appointment and salary will be according to the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK, and is positioned as a student-HK. The minimum wage is DKK 119,32. Your salary will be based on seniority.
 
The average workload will be about 5 hours/week for about 8 months, with the possibility of 1-2 months of extension. Flexible hours in the exam period. Start November 1, or as agreed. Application deadline October 24.
