Two staff Scientists (In vivo leukemia modelling) in Translational Hematology

The Porse group at the Finsen Laboratory/Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC), a research center of excellence at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking two highly motivated flow cytometry/cancer modelling specialists for a staff scientist positions in translational hematology.  
Job description 
We are seeking ambitious candidates with a strong interest in in vivo modelling of human cancer and a wish to be part of an interactive team of several scientific and clinical research groups working on translational hematology. The successful candidates will join the lab of Prof. Bo Porse (Finsen Laboratory/BRIC/DanStem) and thus take part in the highly dynamic research environment centered on understanding the role of stem cells in hematological cancers, while working as staff scientists within the realms of the newly established Program for Translational Hematology. The staff scientist positions are dedicated to in-depth characterization of sampled material from leukemia patients. Practically, the main tasks will center on flow cytometry based sorting of patient material and subsequent generation of patient-derived xenografts (PDX) using state-of-the-art modeling in mice.  
Start: As soon as possible, exact date after agreement 
Duration: 3 years 
Qualifications and skills 
The successful applicants should have 
  • A PhD in life sciences or equivalent research experience 
  • A strong track-record in flow cytometry and/or in vivo cancer modelling 
  • Good organizational skills and a detail-oriented, structured approach to practical lab work  
  • Previous experience in PDX models is considered an advantage 
Place of employment 
The employment is at BRIC, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and a number of core facilities shared between the combined 24 research groups at the Finsen Laboratory and BRIC. In addition, there will be strong collaborative ties to other research groups at BRIC/DanStem/Rigshospitalet through the Program for Translational Hematology. 
Terms of salary and employment 
The employment is as ‘staff scientist’ (AC-TAP) in the Porse Group. The appointment is fixed-term (three years), full-time with starting date as soon as possible after agreement. Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization.
