Data Manager Assistant for EU project: PREVIEW

Temporary position as Data Manager Assistant for EU project: “PREVIEW”  
(PREVention of diabetes through lifestyle Intervention and population studies in Europe and around the World). 
The Department of Nutrition, Exercise, and Sports (NEXS), Faculty of Sciences (SCIENCE), University of Copenhagen (UCPH) wishes to appoint a temporary assistant to the current Data Manager. The position is temporary (possibly as a student job) and it is available from 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible to 31 December 2018. This is a 15 - 20 hrs./wk. employment, depending on the candidate.
About us: 
The research group “Prevention and treatment of obesity” carries out multidisciplinary research in order to better prevent and treat lifestyle diseases with a focus on obesity, but also complications such as type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The research group is identified as one of KU-SCIENCE´s elite research areas. Also, Thompson Reuter's Science Watch and LMC Advisory Board have evaluated the group as an international leader within the area, and we are generally recognized for our scientific excellence among our cooperating research institutions and in our public-private collaborations.  
Project description: 
The PREVIEW project ( is a large multinational EU-project with a total budget of 9 mio Euro involving 15 partners, 12 from Europe and 1 from Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, respectively. The project lasts for 6 years, started on 1 January 2013 and involves a total of 6 work packages (WP). The main WP1 concerns a multi-center clinical intervention trial of 3 y duration (WP1) in which UCPH also takes part.  
The tasks include providing support to the Data Manager in building and maintaining a so- called data hub for data collected in WP1.  
The main tasks of the Data Manager Assistant are: 
· To gather data from PREVIEW, WP1, into a common dataset. This task involves extensive coding in the statistical package R. 
· To ensure good and timely data transfer of the data generated at each study center to the Data Hub.  
· To perform data cleaning, in order to ensure the quality of the data gathered. This task involves doing relevant data queries, identification of outliers, inconsistent and missing data. 
· To assist the data manager in providing partial datasets to individual partners for further analysis, and ensure that the process is appropriately documented. 
· To keep the data manager regularly informed on the status of data hub work.  
Qualifications - selection criteria:  
The ideal candidate has a relevant academic background. 
Further emphasis is placed on:  
· Relevant master's or Bachelor's studies in biostatistics , public health , human nutrition, mathematics , economics , computer science, bioinformatics, IT engineering, or similar fields of study 
· Experience with coding in R , desirable: STATA , SPSS, SAS  
· Experience with handling large and complex datasets in a systematic way 
· Desirable: Experience with the clinical tool OpenClinica and with Linux operating system 
· Professional user level with Microsoft Office package (e.g. Excel) 
· Ability to understand basic scientific concepts 
· Good flair for data and details 
· Good communication skills in English. 
· Ability to work with strict deadlines 
· Thorough experience with statistical analyses will be an advantage  
Terms of employment  
Depending on your background and qualifications you will be employed as either academic employee in accordance with the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations or as IT officer in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance, The Confederation of Teachers Unions and CO10 – The Danish confederation of public employees of 2010 (LC/CO10 Collective Agreement) and by the Professional Agreement for IT Staff (PROSA) in government service. 
The post is financed by funding from the EU Programme under FP7.
