Postdoctoral Position withinPharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology 
 
The Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is offering a temporary 2-year postdoctoral position within Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology to commence 1 March 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The postdoctoral position is financed by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.  
 
About us 
The Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology delivers research and teaching within a wide range of drug-related disciplines, spanning the molecular, cellular, pharmacological levels. The department has approximately 300 employees. The postdoc position is within the newly established Pharmacovigilance Research Group, headed by Professor Morten Andersen and supported by a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The research aims of this group are to develop new methods and tools that will shape future surveillance of medicines safety and to generate new evidence contributing to the evaluation of benefits/risks of medicines. Research will also include backtranslational aspects relating medicine-associated risks to molecular structure, targets and mechanisms and genetic factors. The knowledge should enable patients, healthcare professionals, regulators and the pharmaceutical industry to improve drug use and prevent drug-related problems for the benefit of public health. 
 
Project description 
The successful candidate will conduct research in pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology with a methodological or clinical focus based on healthcare registers and other data sources. The postdoc is expected to contribute to the establishment of project databases and development of an analysis framework that will be a foundation for research projects in the group and for external collaborations. The platform is based on a common data model approach with modular programs implemented in statistical software (SAS, Stata and R). The candidate will collaborate with other researchers and external partners on data analyses and scientific publications as well as participate in teaching and supervision activities. 
 
Your qualifications 
We expect you to be a highly motivated and ambitious scientist with the following qualifications:  
  • A PhD in Life Sciences  
  • Documented experience in epidemiology 
  • Experience working with healthcare registers or electronic health records 
  • Experience with data management and analysis using SAS, Stata or R 
  • Excellent collaborative skills   
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English 
  • Competences within pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, data science, biostatistics or bioinformatics will also be considered

Terms of employment 
The appointment is made in accordance with the Circular on the collective agreement concerning Academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The appointment is furthermore covered by the rules concerning postdocs as described in the Danish Agency for Higher Education’s “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of 28 June 2013.  
 
Your working hours will be 37 hours per week on average.
