Postdoc position within interaction design for the FemTech.dk research project

The Department of Computer Science (DIKU) and the University of Copenhagen is searching for a postdoctoral researcher within the field of interaction design to be a core participant in the action research project FemTech.dk of increasing diversity in the computer science program. The candidate will be expected to plan and execute concrete activities, which are directed at transforming the narrative on computer science to be more inclusive – while working closely with researchers from DIKU and Department of Science Education, and publish research within the area of CSCW/HCI.  
The position is 2.5 years full-time positions in the Section on Human-centered Computing at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen (www.di.ku.dk).  
The perfect candidate has:  
  • interdisciplinary background in human-computer interaction  
  • concrete experience in user-centered design and prototyping  
  • experience with microcontrollers programming and digital fabrication  
  • can work independently in a structured manner  
  • collaborative and communication skills  
  • experience with qualitative and quantitative methods  
  • experience in organizing public engagement activities (public workshops, conferences, public installations)      
  • PhD degree from a relevant field      
  • strong evidence of existing research skills and/or knowledge to match the project topic  
  • publications at established prestige venues in HCI/CSCW and EUSSET.      
Terms of employment  
The position is open from 15 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is for 2.5 years and is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Depending on seniority, the gross basic salary range for Postdoctoral Fellows is DKK 32,745 to DKK 34,476 per month (level 6 to 8) (about EUR 4,100 to 4,400 per month). A supplement could be negotiated, dependent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. An additional 17.1 % monthly contribution to pension will be paid by the employer.

  • Curriculum vitae, including a list of publications  
  • Three publications enclosed in full text for evaluation  
  • Research statement (max. two pages): what research do you imagine you will do  
  • At least three references (either as letters or full contact details)  
  • Assessment of PhD thesis (provisional or final)  
  • A copy of the PhD diploma (if available).  
The deadline for applications is 1 December 2017 (midnight, GMT). Late applications are not considered.  
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
