Job description
The postdoctoral position will be supported by a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation that seeks to study the combined effect of genetic and lifestyle variation on metabolically healthy obesity. The project builds on recent observations showing that certain genetic and lifestyle factors show associations with increased body fatness yet improved levels of cardiometabolic risk markers. The project will focus on utilizing large-scale genome-wide and other datasets (e.g. Danish cohort studies, UK Biobank) to examine the combined and synergistic effects of genetic and lifestyle factors on healthy obesity, and to assess causal effects using mendelian randomization approach.
The candidate should have a background in epidemiology, biostatistics, computational biology, or a related discipline, and to have experience in the field of complex disease research. The candidate should have demonstrated scientific productivity and to have excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Expertise with population genetic and association analyses is advantageous. The candidate should have familiarity with statistical software packages, such as SAS, STATA, and/or R. Experience of statistical approaches applied in longitudinal cohort studies is an advantage.
