Associate Professor in Obesity Research - obesity and energy balance (211-0522)

The Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports, University of Copenhagen, invites applicants for a position as Associate Professor in the field of Obesity Research – obesity and energy balance. 
We are looking for a researcher within the Section for Obesity Research. The successful applicant will be specialized in obesity research and energy balance, within one or several of the following areas: Appetite regulation and energy expenditure, nutritional & other life-style factors, human intervention studies, genetics/metagenomics, nutri-genetics, individualized management, cardio-metabolic regulation and flexibility, or other relevant areas to the scientific development of the research section, and have documented experience in academic teaching, management and leadership.  
The Section for Obesity Research performs basic and clinical research to investigate how appetite and energy metabolism is regulated, with the ultimate goal to improve our ability to prevent and treat obesity and related diseases, such as type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The candidate must hold an academic degree (PhD or equivalent) and have research and teaching qualifications corresponding to what can be achieved through an appointment as an assistant professor in relation to the above subject areas. The candidate must have documented scientific productions at a high international level, and expertise with participation in fundraising and management of externally funded research projects. The candidate is required to have experience and skills in leadership, management and administration. 
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required. Preference will be given to applicants with documented experience within curricula development and pedagogical development of an educational programme.  
Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfil other tasks requested by the Department.  
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications and their leadership experience and abilities. Out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding and their educational and pedagogical development skills and experience will be considered.

Terms of employment 
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.  
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.  
Commencing salary is currently up to DKK 455.206 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 77.840) 
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
