Associate Professor of Paediatric Nutrition (211-0515)

The position  
The Unit of Paediatric and International Nutrition wishes to appoint an Associate Professor within child nutrition, with special focus on the effects of diet in infancy and childhood. The position covers research focusing mainly on the effects of foods and nutrients in infancy, childhood, and adolescence on growth, development, health and early non-communicable disease prevention. The research is expected to include randomized controlled trials and observational studies mainly in healthy children and is expected to take place in close collaboration with students and colleagues within the section as well as with relevant national and international research groups.  
 
Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.  
 
The candidate  
The Associate Professor is expected to have strong research and leadership competences with designing and managing large-scale dietary intervention trials in children, as well as experience with observational studies. Documented abilities to use innovative, cross-disciplinary approaches to research and outreach will be an asset.  
 
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required. The Associate Professor is expected to teach courses in Paediatric Nutrition and other topics at MSc and BSc level.  
 
Assessment  
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.  
 
The research unit  
The Unit of Paediatric and International Nutrition examines nutritional factors that influence growth, development and optimal health in individuals from birth to 18 y of age in both high and low income countries. The unit has a national and an international part and is responsible for master and PhD courses in public health, international nutrition, clinical nutrition and child nutrition. The Associate Professor is expected to mainly conduct research in the national part of the unit, and to participate in and further develop the research of the unit and the Department.

Terms of employment  
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.  
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.  
Commencing salary is currently up to DKK 455,206 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 77,840). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
