The study council at the Department of Anthropology is looking for an External Lecturer to teach the course “Anthropological perspectives; Danish culture and Society” in autumn semester 2017. The course is taught in English.

Duration of the course is 14 weeks and classes are taught 3 hours per week. There is an existing course plan as well as teaching materials but the lecturer is welcome to revise the course. You can find the course description and timetable here.
The course introduces students to Denmark through the eyes of anthropologists. It does so by introducing students both to the discipline of anthropology and to Denmark as an ethnographic field. Danish society will be explored through some of the main research areas in the anthropology of Denmark, e.g. the welfare state, sociality, religion and identity, migration and integration.

Qualifications
Applicants for this position must have at least a Master degree in anthropology. Teaching experience is an advantage. We expect commitment to our discipline and a desire to ‘spread the message’ to students from other disciplines.

Salary and terms of employment
The position is for about 160 hours. Employment will begin on 1 September 2017 and end on 31 January.2018.

The appointment is in accordance with the rules stipulated in the Circular of 23 May 2012 on the agreement on part-time lecturers at universities etc. under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, as well as provisions for part-time lecturers, as described in the Circular  of 18 September 2015 on the agreed minutes for certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities.

Salary will be in accordance with the above agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), and amounts to DKK 254,39 per hour + vacation pay.

All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. The selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to his or her application.
