Job description
The Department of Pharmacy is looking for an associate professor to support its activities in social pharmacy research and teaching in the Section for Social and Clinical pharmacy (SCP). SCP has a long standing expertise in social and clinical pharmacy research and teaching. Social pharmacy deals with the role and use of medicines at the individual, group and societal levels and the related professional roles. The focus areas of SCP are pharmaceutical policy, medicines use, and clinical pharmacy.

The successful applicant is expected to conduct independent research and teaching within one or both of the focus areas pharmaceutical policy and medicines use.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments
  • Other duties such as administrative tasks

Required qualifications
The successful applicant should be able to document:

  • Research qualifications achievable in a position as assistant professor or equivalent within social pharmacy, medical sociology, public health, health economics, or related scientific fields
  • A strong scientific track record in the field of social pharmacy, medical sociology, public health, political science or related scientific fields
  • Experience with research within the area of medicines use and/or pharmaceutical policy
  • A strong vision for research and plans for seeking research funding in the coming 3-5 years
  • Research-based teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies, including experience with teaching and supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students
  • Good interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and fluency in English

Out-reach qualifications and strong research network of applicants, including the ability to attract external funding, is also considered.

Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee.  All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The Dean then appoints an expert assessment committee in order to make an assessment of the selected applicants for the specific post. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
