Postdoc in metabolomic data processing

A 3-year post doc position with possibility of extension is available from 1. July 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter in the Analytical Chemistry Group, Section of Environmental Chemistry and Physics. The place of employment will be at Campus Frederiksberg in central Copenhagen. The Analytical Chemistry Group host the Research Centre for Advanced Analytical Chemistry

The centre focuses on fundamental analytical chemistry research, applied analytical chemistry and analytical chemistry education and often in collaboration with industry. The post doc will collaborate closely with DTU, and Chr Hansen and is supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark through the project FoodTranscriptomics.

Your responsibilities:

The postdoc position will be focused on analysis of metabolite fingerprints of wine and cheese samples. You will take part in the development of new analytical methods for chemical analysis of the metabolites, but focus will be on data processing and treatment using chemometrics. This includes development of scripts, functions and toolboxes for chromatographic data analysis; contribution to the development, validation and deployment of a MATLAB-based GUI; contribution to the development of a GPU and cloud based computation platform for the signal processing and analysis of chromatographic data. The analytical work will be carried out at the Research Centre for Advanced Analytical Chemistry (RAACE), Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The postdoc is expected to contribute to teaching within the section and the position may also include performance of other duties.

Your qualifications:

The successful applicant should have

  • Knowledge of chemometrics, machine learning or bioinformatics
  • Experience with R or MATLAB, especially with development and implementation of Graphical User Interfaces or GPU programming
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python and C++ is not required but will be favored

Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 408,730 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 69,893). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
