The position covers research within a broad range of areas in relation to bioactive fats in human nutrition. The research is expected to include observational and experimental studies mainly in healthy people, both children and adults, with focus on the role of fats, especially essential fatty acids, in relation to growth, development and health. The research is expected to take place in close collaboration with students and colleagues within the department as well as with relevant national and international research groups. It is expected that the applicant can increase the cross sectional collaboration across the department in accordance with the department’s strategy.
The position includes responsibility for teaching regarding all aspects of fats in human nutrition as well as contribution to the teaching tasks of the department in general, e.g. regarding methodological aspects of research in the field of human nutrition. Most of the department’s teaching is in English and at the postgraduate level, but some teaching of bachelor students is also expected.
The applicant must have a strong research background within human nutrition and the role of fats with focus on essential fatty acids in relation to growth, development and health possibly including diet-gene-interactions and other means to elucidate potential biological mechanisms.
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.
Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.
The professor with be member of the Paediatric and International Nutrition section. The sections research focus is to examine especial nutritional factors with influence on growth and development in individuals’ from birth to 18 y of age in both high and low income countries. The section has both experience and equipment to conduct this kind of research. It is expected that the professor can participate in and further develop the sections and the departments’ research.

The professorship is a category where the appointment is limited to a 5-year period, with the possibility of a 3-year extension. On the expiry of the professorship period, the appointee is ensured employment and remuneration as an associate professor.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Commencing salary is currently up to DKK 589,578 including annual supplement (+pension up to DKK 100,818).
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
