Postdoctoral Position in quantitative and conceptual modelling of biological systems at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Purpose: Carry out a program of research, development and innovation that leverages and contributes to the local environment.
The Center for Models of Life at the Niels Bohr Institute has an opening for a postdoc in quantitative and conceptual modelling of biological systems. The position is funded by an ERC advanced grant under the European Union's Seventh Framework Program, Grant n. 740704 (PI, Professor Kim Sneppen).
Our local research group consist of 5 PIs with background in complex systems, working on a variety of specific model systems within spatio-temporal aspects of phage biology, co-evolution, gene regulation, dynamics of epigenetics, dynamics of formation of shapes in embryonic development, disease models and epidemics in perspective of immune response. We have access to local laboratory facilities. 
About you: 
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with strong theoretical background that will contribute to our interdisciplinary environment of physicists and biologists engaged in understanding life phenomena on a variety of scales.
The successful candidate is expected to engage in Center activities, positively contribute to the atmosphere in our group and supervise students at both undergraduate and graduate level.
Applicants should have received a recent Ph.D. in Physics, Complex systems, Computational Biology or a related field by the start of the position. The successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as excellent research experience, documented by scientific publications in internationally reviewed journals.

Terms of employment: 
The positions are for a period of 2 years with the possibility of extension. Start date is September 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State:
  • The basic salary is between DKK 33,000 and DKK 35,000 (4400/4700 €)/month; a supplement can be negotiated depending on qualifications.  
  • In addition to the basic salary a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary). 
Most non-Danish citizens are eligible for a favorable tax scheme. More on employment conditions:
