Two-year positions as Postdoc in Plant Transport Biology, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, University of Copenhagen

Section for Transport Biology, The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, seeks to appoint up to three Postdocs in Plant Transport Biology to commence on 1 April 2018, or shortly thereafter. The positions are financed by a project grant from Innovation Fund Denmark
Section for Transport Biology aims at uncovering the molecular processes that control growth and development of plants. A major research topic is transport across membranes by primary active pumps.
The goal of the project is to develop a proof-of-concept strategy for implementing novel plant biotechnology approaches that exploit molecular mechanisms to support efficient and sustainable agriculture. Specifically, we will test whether a novel non-gmo mutagenesis platform can be used and further developed to increase the efficiency by which plants take up, store, and remobilize nutrients, while having a lower environmental impact than current agricultural practices.
Job description
The position entails research, including publications and scientific communication as well as teaching and supervisory obligations, specifically within the field of transport biology, but also in related fields.
The distribution of the postdoc’s functions may vary periodically according to the department’s requirements.
The postdocs will also be expected to participate in the development of the scientific field and in the administrative functions of the section.
Qualification requirements
  • A PhD degree or the equivalent
  • Research experience
  • Relevant scientific research experience and knowledge of molecular plant biology, plant genetics, membrane protein biochemistry and expression and characterization of recombinant proteins. Experience with bioimaging techniques is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills, oral and written
  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.
