Assistant Professorship in pediatric in vitro models and drug delivery

The University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint an assistant professor in pediatric in vitro models and drug delivery to the Department of Pharmacy in the period 1st of January 2018 through September 30th 2020.

Job description  
We seek a candidate with extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of pediatric in vitro models for the prediction of gastrointestinal drug absorption. The candidate must have a solid track record in optimizing and/or developing in vitro models simulating digestion of lipids, drug solubilization and absorption in the human gastrointestinal tract, and is expected to expand the present method portfolio of the “Rational Oral Drug Delivery” (RODD) research group with a special focus on pediatric in vitro models and pediatric drug delivery. The candidate should have a solid background within the pharmaceutical sciences both in terms of research and teaching experience.  
The successful applicant shall undertake research within the RODD group at the Department of Pharmacy, while still developing an independent research profile.  
The candidate must expect to be involved in translational studies within the RODD group´s research network, and must therefore be prepared for spanning over a number of methodological approaches and be ready to engage in discussions and teamwork across a broad span of disciplines. More specifically, the successful candidate is expected to assist in choosing and designing relevant in vitro (dissolution and digestion) models for evaluation of e.g. drug delivery system -, and food effects.  
The RODD group is headed by Professor Anette Müllertz at the Department of Pharmacy. The Department hosts the largest Drug Delivery research entity in DK and comprises a thriving research environment under rapid development.  
 
The assistant duties will primarily consist of:  
  • Research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication.  
  • Teaching with associated examination duties. Teaching will be in the core curriculum, i.e. basic courses in pharmaceutical physical-chemistry, and pharmacy, along with supervision of undergraduate research assistants, Master’s Thesis’ projects, and participation in examination design and marking.  
  • Work with funding, i.e. writing of grant applications alone and together with group members, networking and active pitching of ideas in relevant fora.  
Qualification requirements  
There will be an equal emphasis on the applicant’s ability to document: A) a high level of original scientific work on an international level within the area, and B) a high level of relevant teaching experience.  
The appointee should have qualifications within the following areas:  
  • A PhD degree within pharmaceutical sciences, natural, life or health or qualifications equaling this  
  • Teaching experience within the pharmaceutical sciences  
Terms of employment  
The terms are set according to the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organization. The post is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (2013).
