Automation Scientist (academic staff) for BRIC’s Core Facility for HT Cell Based Screens

A one year maternity cover is available for a highly motivated and dynamic PhD in Life Sciences with curiosity for assay development and automation and a flexible approach to work interdisciplinary.  
The Core Facility for HT Cell Based Screens is a non-profit service unit at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. We are offering scientific and technological support in a broad variety of bioimaging and high-throughput screening projects at BRIC and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen. We assist scientists in their individual screening process, i.e. the initial set-up, the performance of the screen on our robotic liquid handling stations (Hamilton, Echo acoustic dispenser), data acquisition on our high-content microscope (INCell2200), image and statistical analysis (R). The project portfolio is broad with a main focus on high content cell-based screening utilizing RNAi, CRISPR/CAS9 or compound libraries. Please check out or homepage for further information:
As active part of different scientific projects you will get good insight into the various research programs and the chance to work with many excellent scientists. You will have a broad range of responsibilities such as assistance in the assay development, robotic programming, advanced image analysis and statistical analysis in R but also general project management and various administrative tasks.  
Emphasis will be given to candidates with a solid and broad scientific background, preferably within cell biology, fluorescence microscopy and RNAi/CRISPR technologies. Previous experience with automated liquid handling and/or image acquisition and analysis is definitely an advantage. However, a structured and precise approach, scientific curiosity and good communication skills are equally important.  
Start: January 2018  
Duration: 1 year  
We are looking for an enthusiastic, interacting and communicative scientist with following skills:  
- PhD in Life Sciences or similar  
- A strong background in cellular biology  
- Experience in fluorescence microscopy, RNA interference, CRISPR/CAS9 gene editing and/or assay automation  
- Basic bioinformatics skills with R and/or data management are an advantage  
- Excellent technical skills  
- Excellent communication skills, a good sense of humor and scientific curiosity  
- Excellent English skills written and spoken  
Place of employment  
The employment and place of work is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located in the Biocenter, close to the centre of Copenhagen. Terms of salary and employment  
The appointment as academic staff is for 1 year and scheduled to start January 2018. Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization.
