Postdoc in protein expression, purification and characterization of conotoxins at the Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen

The Ellgaard lab in the Section for Biomolecular Sciences is looking to recruit a talented postdoctoral researcher to our group working at the interface between protein biochemistry and molecular cell biology.
Our research
The main focus of our work is to understand protein folding and misfolding in the endoplasmic reticulum of mammalian cells. We use a variety of biochemical and cell biological methods, supported by molecular biology and bioinformatics.
Specific project
The project will focus on developing a high-throughput system for E. coli expression and purification of disulfide-rich conotoxins for subsequent identification of biological targets. In addition, we want to characterize particularly interesting conotoxins biophysically and structurally.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a PhD or equivalent in biochemistry, biophysics or molecular biology.
Applicants must have:
  • Strong documented experience in E. coli expression and a variety of protein purification methods
  • Strong documented experience in molecular biology (e.g. PCR and cloning)
  • Experience with spectroscopic methods (e.g. CD and fluorescence spectroscopy)
  • Experience with protein structure determination (NMR or X-ray crystallography) will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
Place of employment
